D3
Digitalise the 3rd Sector

Challenge

ICT (information and communication technologies) is crucial to business performance, whether for innovation, customisation of services, reducing costs or the ability to network. Does it have the same importance for non-profit organisations? We believe so; ICT can enhance the performance of an organisation, be it profitable or with social purposes. In fact, ICT has a key role in 3rd sector organisations, from communication and effective management to the ability to establish networks and partnerships. That is, 3rd Sector organisations, like all others, have to follow the digitalisation of economy and society. That's why D3 was designed.

Solution

To improve the performance of 3rd Sector organisations through the use of ICT, the D3 project produced a manual of digital marketing and management solutions for non-profit organisations with suggestions of free software. This manual covers content management tools (internet, blogs, wikis), communication (email, RSS, NewsFeed, Podcasts), project management and document management. It also contains basic concepts of marketing, document management and project management, an organisational communication plan and "do it yourself" guides with information about free software tools to support marketing, communication and management actions. It is intended for non-profit and social economy organisations such as associations, foundations, local development institutions, museums, non-governmental development organisations, mutual associations and charities, among others.
