Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) has consolidated its position as a reference in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Portugal, with four of the top six companies featured in the national ranking of companies, in the ‘Computer Programming Activities’ category, being incubated or with strong links to IPN, namely Critical TechWorks, Critical Software, Feedzai and WIT-Software.

Dinheiro Vivo's national ranking of companies is an annual analysis that evaluates the performance of the main Portuguese companies in various areas of economic activity, based on indicators such as turnover, number of employees and net results.
In the ‘Computer Programming Activities’ category, which covers companies focused on software development and technological solutions, the ranking highlighted the leading companies in the sector in Portugal. Of these, four have direct links to IPN, highlighting the institute's role as a driver of innovation and technological entrepreneurship in the country.
Critical TechWorks, which came first in the ranking, is a joint venture between BMW and Critical Software. This company develops software for the automotive industry, focussing on digital solutions that enhance the mobility of the future.
Critical Software, founded more than 20 years ago at IPN, specialises in high-reliability software for sectors such as aerospace, defence, health and energy, with solutions that guarantee the safety and effectiveness of critical systems.
Feedzai, the only unicorn based in Portugal at IPN, is a global leader in machine learning applied to financial fraud prevention. Feedzai helps financial institutions protect millions of customers around the world by guaranteeing secure, real-time transactions.
WIT-Software, a former incubated company, specialises in communication and mobility solutions. WIT-Software develops innovative products that integrate telecoms services and mobile applications.
IPN has been instrumental in the creation and growth of these companies, offering a unique combination of business incubation, access to innovation networks, support in attracting investment and international promotion.
