Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) contributed to the European Space Agency's (ESA) Hera mission, dedicated to the study of asteroids that pose a potential threat to Earth. The Hera mission was launched on 7 October with the aim of analysing an asteroid whose orbit has been altered by human intervention, as part of a global effort to prevent asteroid collisions from causing natural disasters.
IPN brought its vast experience in Product Quality Assurance, with Rui Henriques, from IPN's Quality Department, contributing for the quality assurance of the InterSatellite Link (ISL), a communications system between satellites developed by TEKEVER, which facilitates communication between two nanosatellites used in the Hera mission.
As well as providing services to the space sector, IPN also provides training in this area, and is currently planning training in Product Assurance and Quality Assurance (PA/QA) for space projects. With a structured programme led by Rui Henriques, who has more than 20 years' experience in the sector, the training is a unique opportunity for managers, quality professionals and recent graduates who want to acquire specialised skills in an ever-expanding sector.
In this third edition, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and develop skills to work on space projects. Registration is open until 28 October
