Atlantic SpacePort Consortium signed a new cooperation protocol with
NAV Portugal. Incubated at
ESA Space Solutions Portugal, lead by Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), the consortium specialises in the operation of Space Ports and aims to develop a new space port in the Santa Maria island, in Azores.
The objective of the protocol is to streamline communication processes, in order to define flight trajectories, monitoring and coordination needs of the Santa Maria airspace, and to attend to the requirements of the
National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) so that flight operations are properly authorised.
This protocol also aims to guarantee safety and the flow of information during operations, as well as defining specific responsibilities and duties between the Atlantic SpacePort Consortium and NAV Portugal.
Constituted by the companies
Ilex Space Lda and
Optimal Structural Solutions Lda, the Atlantic SpacePort Consortium is a portuguese consortium formed in 2019 with the objective to vision the development of the Santa Maria SpacePort in a balanced, sustainable and safe way.
NAV Portugal is a company that provides air navigation services in Portugal’s airspace, responsible for guaranteeing the safety of all passengers and planes.
