Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) co-organised the Coimbra Invest Summit (CIS), which took place on 9, 10 and 11 October at the Convento de São Francisco. The event, which seeks to position Coimbra as an innovation and entrepreneurship hub, featured several companies incubated at IPN, as well as talks and debates that highlighted the institution's role in the region's innovation ecosystem.

Over the three days of the event, IPN was present at various activities, including the involvement of incubated companies in the technology, health and space sectors. The companies presented their innovative solutions, demonstrating the potential of Coimbra's startup ecosystem, including: BARAD, Black Monster Media, build.ing, ByThelaw, Central Press, CleanWatts, Ethiack, Haupper, ihcare, Ineye Pharma, Infibro, RaceGroup, MITOTAG, Owlpharma - Consulting, RDfine, Risimet, SafeCaring, Sensing Future Technologies, The Loop Co., TUU, TIMEUP and Visible Sports.

At the opening session, João Gabriel Silva, IPN's President of the Board, emphasised the institution's commitment to promoting innovation and developing new businesses. The presence of Paulo Marques, one of the founding partners of Feedzai, at the event emphasised the impact of technology on business transformation and the future of innovation.

The 10th anniversary of ESA Space Solutions Portugal, a programme that has driven the development of the space sector in Portugal, was celebrated during the event. Through this programme, IPN has been one of the main players in promoting space innovation.

INESCTEC researcher and astronaut analogue Ana Pires challenged those present with her futuristic vision of the Portuguese space revolution. In addition, several incubated startups focused on space technologies presented their projects, including Connected, Entangled, FiberSight, Green Space, JSIO, OWLPlaces, PURR.AI, Spotlite, TeroMovigo and YouShip.

One of the highlights of the event was the signature of a strategic partnership between IPN and the Coimbra Local Health Unit (ULS). During the CIS, the topic of innovation in health was also discussed, with emphasis on Coimbra's role as a centre of excellence in this area. The FaceRehab tele-rehabilitation device, developed by the IPN, was showcased during the event, demonstrating the institution's potential to develop technological solutions to improve people's quality of life.

The CIS reaffirmed the importance of Coimbra as a dynamic and vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. IPN, as one of the main players in this ecosystem, will continue to work to promote innovation and the development of new businesses in the region.
