TURNTABLE is a white label ICT platform targeting users in the 65+ user group. It will be sold to mobile network operators so they can provide an additional service to easily reach this currently underserved user segment. The presence of first early adopters - mobile network operators NOS and A1 in the consortium confirms the validity of the route to market.
TURNTABLE primarily addresses the challenge of vitality and ability of the elderly. As people age, they tend to become more sedentary and less active. This worsens the normal age-related decline in both physical and cognitive functioning. There is a continued decline in muscle mass, strength and power, falls become more frequent and dangerous, and everyday tasks become more intimidating. These difficulties may interfere with the maintenance of a good nutritional status as well as with the older adults’ everyday functioning and participation in social activities.
TURNTABLE is a starting point and serves as a service that supports active ageing with the help of innovative ICT solutions for higher social inclusion and participation. Gardening in the sense of relaxing exercise and nutrition, are the first two blocks that have direct effect on our end users and were identified by the consortium as the best suitable for initial pillars, driving for a healthy ageing. As we follow the idea that seniors use TURNTABLE on a daily basis, new features will be introduced as they are developed and upgraded. In time, TURNTABLE will cover needs of seniors in a large-scale vision, such as: homecare tasks, household activities, social activities, ensuring social contacts through intergenerational cooperation.
