IPN - Instituto Pedro Nunes - Job Offer: Researcher in Analysis and Machine Learning for Additive Manufacturing of Closed-Shell Structures

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is opening a selection procedure for one Researcher to develop scientific research activities in the field of analysis and machine learning applied to additive manufacturing of closed-shell structures, at the Laboratory of Wear, Testing & Materials (LED&MAT).
This opening is part of the A3Shell project (COMPETE2030-FEDER-02233400 – Project No. 21381), Compet 2030.

Function:

• Characterization of mechanical, microstructural, chemical, physical, and geometrical properties of the case studies;
• Ensure the technical requirements in service, according to the normative documents such as ASTM F3122 and ISO/ASTM 52907;
• Support research and development activities within the A3Shell project

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics Engineering, or related fields.
• In the event the Master degree was awarded by a foreign higher institution, the degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law nr 66/2018, 16 August, and all formalities duly established must be fulfilled by the Candidate until the submission term.

Technical Experience:

• Knowledge in the field of metallic materials and additive manufacturing;
• Experience in the preparation and characterization of metallic materials;
• Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals with a high impact factor (Q1 or Q2) where the candidate has played a prominent role;;
• Participation as a member of the research team in scientific projects in the field of metallic materials;
• Involvement in technology transfer activities;
• Participation as a speaker at scientific events.

Preferred factors :

• Excellent time management and organizational skills;
• Flexibility to work on various activities related to metallic materials;
• Strong teamwork skills;
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is mandatory;
• Availability to travel for technical meetings;
• Ability to start duties in a short timeframe.
