The DIGILIFE project has come to an end, leaving a significant impact on the digital and social inclusion of older adults. With the participation of 86 Students and 186 Older Adults in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece, the project achieved results that reinforce the importance of digital training.

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) developed the DIGILIFE project's training methodology, an innovative model recognized as a replicable tool, adaptable to different contexts.

Developed over 26 months, DIGILIFE brought together the efforts of six European partners: Instituto Pedro Nunes (Portugal), Cáritas Diocesana de Coimbra (Portugal), Plataforma del Voluntariado (Spain), People Behind (Greece), Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata (Italy) and Fondazione garagErasmus (Italy). The project trained adults over 65 in digital skills, promoting autonomy and well-being, while providing young students with a unique opportunity to actively participate in digital inclusion of that target audience.

Main results of the project:
  • Increased digital confidence: Participants reported feeling safer using technology for everyday tasks.
  • Reducing social exclusion: The project activities created intergenerational support networks, strengthening the feeling of community and combating isolation.
  • Skills development in young mentors: University students gained teaching, empathy and leadership skills by acting as digital mentors.
Experience has demonstrated that intergenerational collaboration can be an effective solution to overcome the digital divide and strengthen community ties. DIGILIFE leaves a legacy of tools and good practices that will continue to contribute to a more inclusive society.
