Coimbra is preparing to host the Techstars Startup Weekend, a 54-hour event aimed at training entrepreneurs to turn innovative ideas into startups, organised by the 351 Portuguese Startup Association.

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), recognised for its role in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, is an organising partner of this initiative, which will take place from 14 to 16 March 2025 at URUBU, IQ. Tickets are limited and can be purchased via the following link.

Over three days, designers, developers, marketers and enthusiasts will come together to share ideas, form teams and launch innovative projects, with the support of experienced mentors, investors and industry professionals.

Teams will learn how to create a business model, develop prototypes, obtain market validation and attract potential partners and customers.

The Techstar Startup Weekend agenda also includes activities such as workshops, mentoring and brainstorming sessions, networking moments and a final pitch presentation, during which the teams will be able to present the work developed during the event.

This initiative will be preceded by two free workshops aimed at strengthening the entrepreneurial community in Coimbra and sharing knowledge. These sessions will provide an overview of the content to be presented over the three days of the event, as well as what the Techstars methodology consists of and what participants can learn this weekend.

Both workshops will take place in Coimbra, at Instituto Pedro Nunes, and will be conducted in English. The first will take place on 4 February at 5pm and will be entitled ‘Startups from 0 to 1: how to get your idea off the ground?’. For 1 hour, participants will learn how to get their startup idea off the ground and turn it into a successful project, based on real examples of national and international businesses that started out as startups, such as Uber, Airbnb, Blablacar, Zapier, Uniplaces and Coursera.

The second will be on 27 February, on ‘Networking and Relationship Strategy: how to connect with the right people’. This session will analyse the importance of forming genuine connections and how these relationships are the basis for personal and professional success.

This edition in Coimbra is sponsored by Critical Software and supported by Instituto Pedro Nunes, Turismo Centro de Portugal, Frutorra, Le Wagon, Startup Portugal, Unicorn Factory Lisboa and Fintech House.
