Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) attended the 2024 edition of Expand North Star, the world's largest event dedicated to connecting startups and investors, which took place in Dubai.

With its own stand, dedicated to presenting its projects and services, IPN received several visitors, promoting the Portuguese entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. IPN's project manager, Joana Afonso, was present at the event to offer personalised support to our startups and explore opportunities for collaboration.

In addition, IPN followed Fibersight and ROOTKey incubatees closely in their mission to attract new investors and clients. This support reflects IPN's commitment to boosting the growth and success of its incubatees by strengthening their networks and business opportunities.

Fibersight, which specialises in fibre-optic sensor solutions for water monitoring, was selected as a finalist in the Supernova Challenge 2.0, an international competition that brings together the most promising early-stage startups. Fibersight stood out among 20 of more than 1,000 competing startups, and was the only Portuguese company to reach the final.

José Manuel Rodrigues, IPN's Business Developer, was one of the speakers at the ‘Knowledge Transfer and Commercialisation Strategies’ session, during which he shared essential strategies for speeding up the process of transitioning innovations from the laboratory to the market. This panel addressed crucial issues such as advanced intellectual property strategies, dynamic partnerships with industry and regulatory issues.

This participation in Expand North Star reaffirms Instituto Pedro Nunes' role as an driver of innovation and a promoter of strategic partnerships in the global entrepreneurship landscape.
