IPN contributes to the future of the space sector during the New Space Atlantic Summit

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) participated in the New Space Atlantic Summit, organized by the Portuguese Space Agency, this edition focused on the future of the space economy, on June 7th of 2024.

Jorge Pimenta, IPN’s Director of Innovation, participated in the panel “Space Technology and Innovation”, during which the projects developed by companies and startups in the space sector were addressed. The panel also counted with the presence of Stella Tkatchova, Programme Manager for Space Systems at the European Innovation Council, Sebastian Klauss, CEO of ATMOS, Arthur Jordão, Executive Director of Europe Startup Nations Alliance, and João Montenegro, entrepreneur.


During the New Space Atlantic Summit topics such as space education perspective, the role of new European spaceports for New Space, and the future of the space economy within an innovative and sustainable vision were discussed.

The event was an opportunity for IPN to establish new contacts and contribute to the future of the space sector in Europe.


The participation in this event is part of the NEW SPACE Portugal Mobilizing Agenda, which strengthens IPN’s commitment in redefining the Portuguese space landscape, positioning the country as a ‘flying nation’, and supporting the national ecosystem of startups and companies in the space sector.
