To develop epoxy-based biocomposites reinforced with natural fibres for the automotive industry.
The project aims to synthesise epoxy-based resins using only raw materials from renewable sources. Cellulose fibres extracted from rice straw will also be used to improve the mechanical performance, thereby adding value to an agricultural residue that is becoming increasingly abundant due to the rise in global food production.
Development of epoxy resin curing agents with high percentages of bio-based content; Deveopment of epoxy resins containing more than 70% of raw materials from renewable sources; Use of agro-industrial rice straw residues to obtain cellulose fibres for composite reinforcement; Formulation of epoxy resins using monomers and curing agents from renewable sources, together with commercially available additives; Production of biocomposites using naturally derived epoxy resins and cellulose fibres; Production of dashboard panels using materials from renewable sources.
