There is currently a major challenge related to the integration of citizen-centred healthcare in Portugal, which could be overcome by investing in the digital area. This component has untapped potential to prevent illness and reduce healthcare costs. If, on the one hand, professionals have access to an extensive view of the user's health (e.g. significantly increased access to data), on the other, users themselves gain greater control and management of their health. In addition, this digital transition is driving personalised medicine, which prioritises the uniqueness of the patient. This will increase efficiency and improve medical results, thus highlighting the importance of searching for and identifying digital tools that contribute to these scenarios.
The Test Bed (TB) ITeCS - Technological Innovation in Healthcare has the core objective of accelerating the technological development of products or services in the area of Digital Health. By using TB's services, the participating SME/start-up will be able to benefit from all the technical know-how, technologies and infrastructures needed to develop and validate pilots of innovative products and solutions in the healthcare sector, helping them to overcome the so-called ‘valley of death’. The participating companies will have contact with technological experts in various areas and will be able to test their products in a real environment (Testers / End-users). These organisations will also be able to obtain advice from a Scientific Council in various areas. Specifically, this TB will address 4 main health verticals - Healthy Lifestyles, Active Ageing, Public Health and Mental Health, focusing on health prevention, primary, specialised and long-term care.
Expected Objectives:
Development of 52 products or services by the end of the project
