Description

The main objective of FarmReal is to make an important traditional activity (almost extinct in Europe) with a strong impact on the rural economy sustainable. The development of the next generation of community shepherds (digital herding with real animals) takes advantage of technologies such as Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and video streaming, combined with the emerging potential of social networks. Internet users can adopt a real goat and track it day-by-day (behaviour, income, socialisation, videos and photos) through a web based platform. Users also have access to other services such as scheduling visits to the adopted animal and herd related activities.
