AT-VITUAL
Inovação Aberta para melhorar a segurança e proteção marítima no Espaço Atlântico

Challenge

The project aims to improve the operation and performance of Maritime Safety Training Centers (MSTCs) in the Atlantic territory, allowing companies to develop solutions based on emerging technologies for the needs of MSTCs in the field of simulation, based on training systems for operations of maritime safety. This will improve the capacity of the Atlantic Area, its preparedness, resilience and response to maritime incidents and emergencies in Atlantic waters, while promoting innovation and sustainable business growth.

Solution

AT-VIRTUAL's general objective is to accelerate the digitization of MSTCs in the Atlantic Area, through the introduction of new emerging technologies related to Industry 4.0 (I4.0) (Internet of Things, Big Data / Data Analytics and Vision Technologies) in the simulation - data-based training systems.

Objectives, Activities and Results expected / achieved

Transform MSTCs into test, pilot and demonstration sites for technology solutions for common needs identified in the Atlantic Area. The digitization process will be carried out through a collaborative hybridization process, facilitating the cooperation between 3 MSTCs and startups that will act as digital facilitators, supported by an applied research entity and experts in I4.0.
A new advanced platform will be developed, ready to be transferred after the project, to support the digitization processes in new organizations and areas outside the Atlantic Area.
AT-VIRTUAL will impact the current situation, allowing MSTCs to adopt solutions that exploit the full potential of the latest technologies; the development of new professional fields; and a well-trained and up-to-date workforce, enabling the industry to become safer, more efficient and more sustainable. In addition, it will contribute to the consolidation of businesses and startups by promoting the implementation of an I4.0 market with as yet unexplored potential, helping to accelerate smart growth and innovation in the Atlantic Area.
