A model for saving money on construction projects, a legal chatbot that speeds up the work of lawyers and a virtual assistant to help farmers are some of the projects of the ATTRACT acceleration programme, promoted by Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN).

On 29 November, IPN brought together investors, stakeholders, experts and potential clients during the Demo Day of the ATTRACT programme, an acceleration initiative dedicated to startups with solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High Performance Computing (HPC). During the event, 10 companies presented their technological projects, highlighting the application of these technologies in sectors such as health, construction, agriculture, legal, consultancy, sports, among others.

According to Jorge Pimenta, IPN's Director of Innovation, ‘this is an extraordinary time to explore new technological frontiers and integrate changes in various domains. With initiatives such as the ATTRACT programme, IPN is helping to shape the future of technological innovation, tackling challenges such as the digital transition, sustainability and transforming the customer experience, always with optimism in the face of emerging opportunities.’

Among the solutions presented were:

build.ing, which is developing a model that saves 15 per cent on the total cost of a construction project. Using AI, this project analyses various construction scenarios based on the client's objectives and selects the most economical and sustainable options, making the whole process more efficient and faster.

ByTheLaw simplifies the administrative work of legal experts, enabling better case management and interaction with clients through a platform and a chatbot interface.

Central Press Network empowers local media outlets with advanced tools to increase efficiency, content creation and thus increase revenue.

Concurcerto recommends personalized public tenders to companies in Portugal, automating analysis of opportunities, through a GovTech platform that uses AI.

Granter.ai helps companies find and apply for public grants. It has developed an AI platform that uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning to match companies with suitable grants, write applications and provide expert analysis.

OWL sells building ‘digital twins’ that use AI, HCP, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and geospatial data for centralised data management, optimising sustainability and energy efficiency.

PURR.ai has developed an AI platform that uses databases and algorithms to design peptide therapies, focussing on neurological diseases associated with aging.

QuickTrend (RaceGroup) develops AI tools for simulator racing (RaceCrewAI) and real-world motorsport (RaceEngineerAI). These tools offer data analysis, strategy optimisation and performance.

SafeCaring is developing an AI solution that automates healthcare management, reducing administrative tasks and freeing up professionals' time to devote to direct patient care.

ImpactWave has developed a virtual assistant, Toscan, which uses AI to help farmers make informed decisions about their crops, promoting cost savings of up to 30 per cent.

The programme, which took place over three sessions, promoted the development of startups on topics such as financing strategies, business models, ethics in AI, product development and networking, connecting them to a wide network of mentors and experts.

The Demo Day marked the end of the programme, serving as a showcase for the potential of the solutions developed and facilitating strategic contacts between startups and investors.

ATTRACT is an initiative of the Digital Innovation Hub for Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and the European Union.
