Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) received a visit from a group of students from the
Students’ Union of the Chemical Engineering Department of the Coimbra Academic Association (NEDEQ/AAC), on 10th September of 2024. The visit, part of the welcoming and integration week of new university students, had the objective to present IPN’s capabilities and inspire future engineers.
The visit began with a presentation of IPN, carried out by
Marta Salgado Costa, Communication and Marketing Manager, who showcased the institute’s mission, areas of activity, some on-going projects and its importance to the innovation ecosystem in Portugal.
Ana Seguro, Coordinator of Incubation, presented IPN’s Business Incubator, highlighting the services and support that it offered to startups. The students also had the opportunity to get to know the incubation process and the benefits in creating a tech-based company.
At last, the visitors explored IPN’s Wear, Testing & Materials Lab.
João Paulo Dias, Adjunct Director of the Lab, shared the unit’s different areas of activity, such as mechanical testing, material characterisation and failure analysis. The students also got to know some of the machines and equipment used by the lab for testing.
