Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) was present at the
11th ANACOM Conference “5G in Action”, an event that gathered the main actors in the telecommunications sector, and served as a stage for the presentation of innovative solutions and the discussion about the future of 5G technology in Portugal, on 10 and 11 September of 2024.
Carlos Azevedo, Coordinator of Medical Robotics of IPN’s Automatics and Systems Lab, was one of the speakers in the session “
5G in Healthcare”, during which he presented the advancements of the institute in the area of robotically assisted tele-ultrasound.
During the session, Carlos Azevedo showcased how 5G technology is revolutionising the way health professionals carry out examinations and training, allowing ultrasounds to be carried out remotely with high quality and precision.
The
TrainR4U project, which uses the tele-ultrasound robotic system developed by IPN, was highlighted as an example in how 5G technology can democratise the access to quality health services.
Meanwhile
Luiza Almeida, Business Developer Manager from LAS, took the opportunity to explore new partnerships and establish foundations for new synergies.
