Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) will promote a pre-acceleration programme for early stage startups developing solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) or High Performance Computing (HPC). The programme has two previewed editions, one on June 20 and 21 of 2024, at the
Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), in Porto, and the second on June 27 and 28 of 2024 at the
Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP) in Lisbon. This programme is promoted as a part of the
ATTRACT - DIH Digital innovation Hub.
This programme is aimed at preparing and supporting startups with solutions based on AI and HPC that seek to develop their business model and establish their company in the different levels of readiness.
The participation in the programme is free but registration is mandatory
here.
The programme is composed of various activities such as workshops, founder talks, mentoring sessions and networking, through which the participants will be able to refine their business proposal and define an innovation strategy with an auto evaluation methodology adapted from the
KTH Innovation Readiness Level Model, where each company will position itself in various dimensions.
Among the specialists and mentors of the programme are Jorge Pimenta, IPN’s Innovation Director, Carla Duarte, Innovation Manager at IPN, José Ricardo Aguilar, Head of IPN’s Legal and Intellectual Property Department, José Rodrigues Business Developer at IPN, and Mónica Ferreira, Project Manager at IPN, Vasco Teles from INESC TEC, Guilherme Ramos Pereira from DSPA and Benvinda Catarino from AIP.
This is an opportunity for startups who are seeking support to refine their business idea, validate assumptions and define a strategic innovation radar, before moving forward to a more intensive acceleration programme.
ATTRACT is part of the
European Digital Innovation Hub network, and it gathers the main research and technology transfer centers of the country, aiming to support the on-going digital transition in Portugal and Europe. The consortium is led by INESC-TEC and it counts with a network of 24 partners experienced in AI and HPC, including IPN. The project is financed by the European Commission through the Digital Europe programme and by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) - Component 16 - 4.0 Companies.
