The II Meet Up Women in Space, which took place at Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), on March 8, brought together a number of participants to discuss the role of women in technological and leadership activities in Portugal, an area in which they are still underrepresented, particularly in the space economy. The debate was attended by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Administrative Modernization, Mário Campolargo, who presented a set of actions to be implemented for Gender Equality.

Ana Pires, Researcher and Astronaut Análogue at INESCTEC, Hélder Loio, Co-Founder of TUU and Cityoo, Jorge Noro, Coordinator at the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research of Coimbra University and Marta Guimarães, Machine Learning Developer at Neuraspace, in a debate moderated by Coimbra Coolectiva journalist Sónia Nunes, gave their testimonies identifying the barriers for equality in leadership positions, in technological careers, in the space sector and also presented proposals to progress positively.

Joana Branco, from Women in Tech, and Ana Jegundo, Ana Vaz and Carla Duarte, from IPN, also challenged the audience to share their stories and action proposals for the promotion of gender equality.

After the panel, there was a visit to some companies incubated in the IPN Incubator and that participated in the ESA BIC Portugal, IPN programme, founded by women or whose decision teams include women. This was an opportunity for the Secretary of State for Digitisation and Administrative Modernisation to get to know the work of: Cityoo, Kinetikos Health, Neuraspace and Spotlite.

The II Meet Up Women in Space was organised by Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) and ESA Space Solutions Portugal, in collaboration with Women in Tech Portugal.
