The European Space Agency (ESA), ESA Space Solutions Portugal and Portugal Ventures signed a collaboration protocol last Wednesday, September 7th.

The event took place at the University of Coimbra’s Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory (OGAUC) and included the presence of Niels Eldering, Technology Transfer Officer at ESA's Technology Transfer Programme Office (TTPO) and responsible for the creation and implementation of ESA’S Business Incubation Centre, Jorge Pimenta, Innovation Director at IPN and Coordinator of ESA BIC Portugal, and Rui Ferreira and Teresa Fiúza, President and Executive Vice President of Portugal Ventures, respectively.

They visited the University of Coimbra’s Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory and got to know more about the spectroheliograph, one of the oldest solar instruments that has been operating since 1925.

This moment formalized ESA’s and ESA Space Solutions Portugal’s collaboration with Portugal Venturas that aims to support companies incubated in ESA BIC Portugal.

At the moment, ESA BIC Portugal is promoting an open call to incubate and support space-related companies, providing 125 thousand euros in partnership with Portugal Ventures. Applications are open until September 23rd, 2022. Know more or apply here.
